The Canadian Institute for Jewish Research maintains a massive and continuously updated “Israel, Middle East & Jewish World DataBank” (MEDB), available through our website. The MEDB provides vast repository of data, articles and op eds on Israel, the Middle East, Judaism, Jewish issues and antisemitism, on Holocaust studies, Islam and Arab countries’ history and politics, and up-to-date information on issues pertaining to Jerusalem, Middle Eastern studies, the Arab rebellions, regional human rights and international civil rights questions, and so on.
U.S., Canadian, and European Union foreign policy, and the regional role of Russia, China and India can be accessed, as can be materials pertaining to Iran, Afghanistan, and Syria. The MEDB contains materials on all aspects of the Israel-Arab conflict, from the status of the Arab rebellions in Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, and Yemen, to the relationship between Islam and Jews and Islam and Islamist terrorism, to statistical and demographic studies of Israel, Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (the “West Bank” and “occupied territories”) and the Middle Eastern countries.
Palestinian society and politics, the role of Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iran and nuclear weapons, denial of Auschwitz and the Holocaust, modern or global antisemitism and the delegitimation of Israel via the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement (“Israeli apartheid week”)—these and other key issues are detailed in the MEDB’s holdings. Additionally, ongoing issues like the American involvement in Iraq, and with the allies in Afghanistan, can be tracked, as can the history of Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, 9/11 and ongoing Islamist terrorism in America, Europe and the Middle East.
